A Petition to Mayor Cantrell urging that Audubon Nature Institute (ANI) not rip out 4-6 of its public clay tennis courts was heard.
Just ten days after the Petition went live, ANI yanked this item from its agenda.
Last week, Councilman Jay Banks–District B convened a meeting to discuss the potential impact, on the Atkinson-Stern tennis community, of the conversion of some of Audubon’s ten clay courts to hard courts. The following individuals were invited: Rebecca Deitz and Chimene G. Saloy with ANI. Chris Maitre with Tulane University who declined to attend. Larry Barabino with NORD. And the president and past-president of Friends of Atkinson-Stern Tennis Courts. This meeting will be followed by community information meetings about proposed improvements.
