Edison Place - This land for more than 60 years a part of the electric distribution system serving New Orleans, was donated to the City of New Orleans by New Orleans Public Service, Inc. and named in honor of Thomas Alva Edison, inventor and creative genius, a director of the company which provided the first electric service in New Orleans in 1886.
