"Brechtel Park has been a beloved place to enjoy nature in our heavily urbanized environment.  The lagoons and stands of native trees and vegetation have made this a premier bird watching location.  The addition of a new birding trail will enhance the visibility of the many migratory and permanent bird populations that call Brechtel Park home.  Multiple generations of New Orleans residents have found it a delightful place to feed ducks and geese, enjoy picnics, play on playgrounds, climb on the tall mounds and rent shelters for reunions, parties and weddings.  The park continues to serve the Scouting community with camping opportunities.
